Fun Activities You Can Do This Fall Season
The fall brings chilly days, yellow leaves, warm meals, and a smell of pumpkin spice everywhere. It’s truly a unique season, but many people struggle to find fun activities they can do with their kids, friends, or alone. Here’s a list of the best indoor and outdoor activities you can do to make the most of this fall season.
Perfect Outdoor Family Activity: Horseback Riding
If you want to make your kids spend more time outside and connect with nature, you must make it enjoyable. After all, they are glued to phone screens for a reason – there are so many fun things they can do and see on the internet.
Horseback riding is a perfect family activity because it is fun and allows you to spend time together while enjoying beautiful landscapes. So, new core memories for your kids are guaranteed. In addition, this outdoor activity can help them build a stronger bond with you, animals, and nature.
Perfect Friend Activity: Making Mulled Wine
Mulled wine is a popular fall and winter drink all around Europe because it’s delicious and it can keep you warm and cozy. So, if you want to try something different this season, you can invite your friends over to make mulled wine and keep warm on chilly fall evenings.
It’s so easy to make mulled wine. All you need is a bottle (or a few) of dry red wine, one orange, sugar or another sweetener, and some spices. We prefer cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and star anise.
Add 2-4 tablespoons of sugar into a large saucepan and put on medium heat. As soon as it starts to yellow, add a cup of water and simmer for a minute. Then, add wine, spices, and a few slices of orange. Leave it on medium heat until it barely reaches a simmer. Keep in mind that alcohol begins to evaporate at 172°F, so you don’t want your mulled wine to boil. Turn off the heat, cover the pan, and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
Finally, strain the spices, pour mulled wine into heat proof mugs, and enjoy a beautiful fall evening with your friends.
Perfect Backyard Family Activity: Roasting S’mores
If you have a nice outdoor space, you can use it to make a small campfire and roast s’mores with your family and friends. It’s these simple activities that create the best memories. So, gather everyone around, bring out graham crackers, marshmallows, and your favorite chocolate bars, and make yourself cozy around the fire. It’s the perfect way to spend your evening.
Perfect Couples Activity: A Romantic Weekend in Nature
Fall is ideal for romantic getaways because nature looks beautiful during this season. So, if you want to change the scenery, recharge your battery, and make a loving memory with your partner, a quick weekend trip is a perfect fall activity. All you need to do is find a romantic bed and breakfast nearby.
A weekend of hiking in nature, eating delicious seasonal meals, soaking in the hot tub, and relaxing is a perfect way to spend time with your loved one.
Perfect Indoors Activity: Playing Board Games
Board games are back in style, and for a good reason – they are an excellent way to spend quality time with your friends and family. There are so many cool new games with exciting themes and mechanics, so you can easily find something you like.
If you are a fan of board games, you can see if your kids like them too. Find some age-appropriate games and see if your little ones share your enthusiasm. This can be a fun activity that supports their critical thinking, develops their ability to plan ahead, and teaches them to cope with winning and losing.
Perfect Feel Good Activity: Volunteering at a Food Bank
With the holidays approaching, it is a good time to start the season of giving. Many food banks and other charities need extra help during fall, so why not offer a hand? Volunteering is an excellent way to give back to the community and meet interesting new people. In addition, you’ll feel great afterward.
Perfect Family Activity: Going on a Hayride
If you’re looking for something more traditional, hayrides are a fun option for the whole family. You can find them at a local farm or church during the fall season. There, you can sit back and relax on the open wagon while going through cornfields and enjoying the sights.
Many farms offer additional fun activities like apple picking, corn mazes, petting zoos, flower picking, and more.
Perfect Solo Activity: Reading a Book
Sometimes we need to take a step back and enjoy some alone time. That may be hard if your kids are running around your home, but you should try to find time for yourself. That can be something as simple as cozying up under a blanket on your favorite chair and reading that book you’ve been hearing about for months.
Reading for as little as 30 minutes can help you unwind and recharge your batteries. So, if you’re feeling a little stressed, make a cup of tea and grab a book.
Perfect Lazy Family Activity: Movie Night
Lazy movie nights are one of the best family activities when it’s too cold outside. There is something so special about cozying up under blankets, enjoying warm popcorn, and watching your favorite movie with the whole family.
You can make your movie nights even better with the Alaskan King bed. The Alaskan King bed is so big that your whole family can jump on it and stay comfortable for hours. So, you won’t ever have to hear arguments about who sits where. You’ll only need to figure out which movie to watch while staying comfy on your Alaskan King mattress.
